Cameroon's opposition leader, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, has rejected the Constitutional Council's declaration of incumbent President Paul Biya's victory in the election. Bakary stated that the election results were fraudulent and that he does not recognize the legitimacy of the outcome. He called on his supporters to remain calm and prepare for further action. Meanwhile, Paul Biya, who has been in power for over 40 years, was declared the winner for a seventh term. Official results showed that he won by a landslide. International observers noted some irregularities during the vote but overall deemed the election to meet democratic standards.
