The Cameroonian Football Federation is in a delicate situation following a series of scandals, which include two different lists of called-up players and a scandalous request allegedly made by its president, former striker Samuel Eto'o. According to information obtained by the Argentine News Agency, the internal conflict began after the Cameroonian national team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, which led to the departure of head coach Marc Brys. However, the latter ignored his dismissal and doubled down by presenting his own list of called-up players, as he claims he was not notified. At the same time, David Pagou, a renowned local coach, was appointed at the last minute by Eto'o to take the reins of the national team. This situation resulted in two coaches in Cameroon and a double list, creating a curious situation in such disarray. To make matters worse, Eto'o was seriously accused of removing striker and captain Vincent Aboubakar from the list with the aim of preventing him from overtaking his title as the national team's top scorer. Eto'o, one of the best African players in history, has scored 56 goals, while 33-year-old Aboubakar has already scored 45.
